Format |
Individual Single Elimination Match Play. Blue Tees. There are 64 players seeded randomly. However, should last year’s winner and runner-up choose to compete, they will be seeded 1 and 2 respectively. Each round will eliminate half the field until there is only one man left, who will be the 2007 Player’s Cup Champion. There will be six rounds. As with all RGC tournaments, play the ball as it lies - no preferred lies. |
Eligibility |
The event is open to the first 64 members to sign up. Each player must be an RGC member, with an official RGC handicap. The Handicap Chairman will resolve any questions of handicap status and eligibility. |
Seeding |
The players will be seeded randomly by blind draw, except as described above. In the first round there will be 32 matches. Seed 1 will play Seed 64, Seed 2 will play Seed 63, and so on. The tournament chart will be posted, showing the initial matches and the tree for advancing winners. |
Dates |
There will be one round per period as described below. The time and date of each match is to be set by the players in that match by mutual agreement. It can be at any time on any date in the period, including weekdays, however, failure to play a match on time because you are not available to play your match on weekends is grounds for disqualification and will cause ineligibilty to compete in the Tournament next year. The periods for each round are as follows: · Round One must be played between the posting date and May 14th · Round Two must be played by June 18th · Round Three must be played by July 16th · Round Four must be played by August 13th · Quarter Finals must be played by September 3rd · Semi Finals must be played by September 24th · Championship Match must be played by October 15th

Handicap |
In each match, each player’s handicap will be based on 100% of his Blue Tee Handicap in effect that day. The lower of the two handicaps will be the base for reducing both handicaps in the match, as follows: The lower handicapped player will play scratch. The higher handicapped player will receive strokes equal to the difference between the two players’ handicaps. Strokes will be allotted to the higher handicapped player by holes, in order of the hole rating on the scorecard. |
Posting Dates and Results |
Determine the date of your match in advance by mutual consent, as described above. Enter that date on the tournament chart. After a match is concluded, immediately enter on the chart the name of the winner and the match-play score. Both competitors must also enter their handicap-adjusted stroke scores into the computer in the usual manner.Players can expect to receive an email requesting the date set to play their next match. Failure to respond in a timely fashion will be considered in making default decisions. |

Failure to Play Matches as Scheduled |
Opposing players who have not played their match by the end of the required monthly period will have the status of their match resolved by exclusive ruling of the Tournament Committee, Tournament Chairman, and this Tournament’s Manager, who will review the circumstances and decide from these options: · set up a mandatory date for play as soon as possible · choose a winner by coin flip · disqualify one of the players for failure to schedule or play in good faith In fairness to those players already awaiting their next match’s opponent, there will be strict adherence to this process. |
